Rana Pratap Sagar Dam is built on the Chambal River in Rawatbhata in Rajasthan. Constructed in 1953, this dam is one of the most beautiful dams in Rajasthan. This multipurpose dam is used for purposes like the generation of electricity, supplying drinking water, controlling floods, and controlling the silt formation in downstream rivers. It is 53.8 t tall and is used for hydropower generation. The dam was constructed for Rs 4065 million. The river is drained by a rainfed catchment with the major part of the catchment receiving an average rainfall of 860 millimeters, with temperature variation from a maximum of 40 °C, and with the relative humidity lying between 30 and 90% during the year. The nearest railway station is at Kota, which is at a road distance of 59 kilometers from the dam.
Mahi Bajaj Sagar Dam is built on the Mahi River in the village of Banswara. The construction of this Dam commenced in 1972 and was completed in 1983. The Project involved the construction of a 43 m high concrete dam. It provides irrigation and is also used for hydroelectric power generation. It is the longest dam and second largest dam in Rajasthan. It is named after Jamnalal Bajaj. It is the biggest multipurpose project for the tribal area of Rajasthan.
Jawai Sagar Dam is built on River Jawai in Pali, Rajasthan. The dam was built by Maharaja Umaid Singh of Jodhpur. This dam covers an area of 13 sq. km. This is the biggest man-made dam in western Rajasthan. The dam has a capacity of 7887.5 million cubic feet and covers an area of 102,315 acres. Its height is about 61.25 feet. Sei dam and Kalibor dam are the feeder dams of the Jawai dam. The creation of water reservoirs, irrigation, and hydel power generation are some of the purposes of this Multi Purpose Dam. The work started on 12 May 1946. By 1951, when the first 5-year plan was launched, nearly 124 Lakh Rupees were already spent on this project
Built on the River, Bisalpur Dam is a gravity Dam located in the Tonk district of Rajasthan. The Dam was built in 1999 by the Rajasthan Government and the total construction cost was 556 crores. It is used for irrigation and water supply. There are many places to explore nearby like the pink city (Jaipur), Chambal Sanctuary, Nahargarh Cycle ride, and Ranthambore National Park. The Bisalpur dam reservoir supplies irrigation water to Sawai, Madhopur. It also supplies drinking water to Jaipur and Tonk districts. From Ajmer, the drinking water is also transported to the Bhilwara. The reservoir has been called the lifeline of the state capital Jaipur. Currently, around half of the areas under the Jaipur Municipal Corporation get water from Bisalpur. In 2016, the almost-dry Pushkar Lake was filled with water from the Bisalpur reservoir for the annual Pushkar Fair.
Meja Dam is one of the biggest dams in the Bhilwara District of Rajasthan. The Dam is the main source of water for the people of Bhilwara. Built on River Kothari, the dam’s design capacity is 2930 mc ft, and water received in 2009 was 31.67 m. The dam was reportedly filled with 28.9 feet of water level in August 2016. The Dam is located 20 km away from Bhilwara city and the surrounding area is famous for its natural green mount park.
